Juniper berries

These are the partially dried fruits (arcestides) of Juniperus communis. The berries are spherical, about 5-9 mm in diameter and ranging in color from dark blue to dark brown. Their aroma is mild and pleasant. They are used as condiments and for flavoring alcoholic beverages, such as gin.
